Choosing a Caterer

Bar None Barbecue was excited to join San Diego CW6 News on Sunday morning. After our appearance in March, we were invited back this past Memorial Day weekend to discuss tips on choosing a corporate caterer with anchors Courtney Dwyer and Elex Michaelson.

During the segment, we explained that, when selecting a catering company for your special event, remember the following “CATER” acronym to determine that the caterer is:
Credible: Check out their BBB rating, any online reviews on sites like Yelp, and whether they have any lawsuits against them.
Attentive: Make sure that the caterer responds quickly to your initial inquiry and any additional questions you may have.
Thriving: Look at their Web site or blog to see when it was last updated to make sure they’re running a successful business.
Experienced: Investigate how long they’ve been in business, their areas of expertise, and whether they’re a full-time caterer vs. restaurant.
Responsible: Confirm that they don’t overbook and that they have proper insurances (liability, workers comp, etc.) and licensing.

Memorial Day Celebrations and More!

Whew, what a week! Bar None Barbecue officially kicked off the Summer Event Season with eight parties last week. Events honoring Memorial Day started early last week for several of our existing business clients, and then continued throughout the entire weekend with private events all over San Diego. We were excited to cater a graduation party and a birthday party as well.

Western-Themed Fifth Birthday Party

With her special little buckaroo turning five years old, his mom wanted to celebrate this milestone with a hoedown to remember. Surrounded by his family and friends, the birthday boy enjoyed a mechanical bull, a cow milking contest, the tallest inflatable slide we've ever seen, and, of course, Bar None Barbecue's food. His dad joined the revelry after his complete game four-hitter at Petco Park, as well as compared notes with another well-known arm in San Diego -- much to the delight of our star-struck staff!

Vintage Airplane Fly-In at Gillespie Field

On Friday evening, we were honored to cater a reception for the Allen Airways Flying Museum's Vintage Plane Fly-In on the grounds of Gillespie Field. Without a doubt, this location was one of the coolest places that Bar None BBQ has ever catered an event! This stunningly designed hangar location pays homage to airplanes, automobiles, and advertisements of yesteryear in a down-home setting.

Picnics at New and Old Locations

Two of our picnics this weekend were held at Stonebridge Neighborhood Park in Scripps Ranch and South Crown Point on Mission Bay. The neighborhood park location worked out perfectly for our client who found this hidden gem ... it was inexpensive and the park's staff was very accommodating. And, as always, Mission Bay was a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the day!

Volunteer Recognition Party and Rotary Club Fundraiser

We had a wide range of events last week with Bar None catering all over the county. At Woodglen Vista Park, the City of Santee hosted a dinner celebrating the hard work of their dedicated volunteers and all that they bring to Santee.

Additionally, the Rotary Club of Poway held their annual fundraiser and auction at the Lake Poway Pavilion. The Rotary Club's President had the following kind words after the party:

"Thank you very much for catering our fundraiser on Sunday. Dealing with (Bar None BBQ) was tremendous, the food excellent and the service superb. Our guests enjoyed their dinner and ... we heard nothing but good things about the food ... look forward to working with you again."
