Just for Fun: Kensington Parade

We were excited to be included in the Croff family's "Hail to the Chief" entry in this year's 26th Annual Kensington Holiday at Home Memorial Day Parade. The Croffs gathered about a dozen family, friends, and neighbors to represent the last 75-plus years of U. S. Presidents. Their hard work paid off, winning the parade's Grand Prize Award! Here are some parade highlights:

Events: Memorial Day Weekend

Between howling winds and intermittent drizzles this weekend, Bar None Barbecue catered a graduation party in Jamul, an open house for a new home builder in Santee, and an annual Memorial Day barbecue in Kensington. Here are some pictures of our different chuckwagons at different locations:

Events: Cooking in the Elements

What a 180-degree turn-around (and 30-degree drop!) from last week's blazing weather ... these last few days have been challenging to all of us, but Bar None Barbecue always comes through.

On rainy days, we simply cook under our canopies to keep the food hot and safe from the elements, and then serve at an inside location for our clients. On windy days, we take down our canopies (and sometimes even our tabletop decor, depending on how windy it is) to make sure no items can become airborne. Our staff is well-versed in inclement weather, but they're used to it in December and January, not May ... thank you to Krissy, Sarah, Kevin, Nick, Heather, Mateo, and Mike for your extra hard work this week!

Here are some photos from events on Thursday ... we couldn't get any good ones on Friday due to the deluge, but one of our three events on Thursday was able to provide us with some nice pictures of our Western Roundup menu with both Brandon and Greg manning the grill:

Events: Nice Words from Sunday's Party

We received the nicest thank you note from our Sunday client in San Carlos, and it was too sweet not to share with you on our blog. This event was to celebrate our client's retirement from teaching, and we were very fortunate to get to cater this milestone event for this truly special client ... kudos to Krista, Kevin, and Krissy for a job well done:

Dear Brigette: My party on May 18 was a great success. Krissy did a nice job organizing the layout and getting things started. In spite of a record heat wave, your crew was awesome - professional, efficient and attentive to every detail! To a person, my guests showered accolades on the quality of the food and its presentation. Once Bar None rolled up the driveway and into our yard, my wife, Pam, and I had little to do but visit with our guests and enjoy the event. Afterwards, the cleaning up was handled with equal dispatch and efficiency -once the barbecue cart pulled out, all that remained behind was a deep sense of satisfaction.

So, congratulations for a job well done. It has been a real pleasure working with you, from the original planning through to completion.

With sincere thanks for all of your help, JBN

Events: Heating Things Up All Over Town

Bar None Barbecue helped heat up San Diego County over the weekend. From Valley Center to Julian to Balboa Park to San Carlos, we helped make things sizzle! Here are some highlights of the weekend from the lawn of the San Diego Automotive Museum to the lovely Sunhawk Ranch in Julian.

Events: Carlsbad and Lake Hodges

We had the pleasure of working with many existing clients last week. The first two pictures are from our Tuesday evening set up in Carlsbad.

These pictures are from one of our Friday events at a construction site near Lake Hodges.

Events: Last Two Weeks

Well, it sure seems like the busier we get, the less time we have to devote to this blog and the fewer event pictures we take! Over the past two weeks, we've had lots of luncheons, an open house, and several Cinco de Mayo events (including some on Dos and Tres de Mayo) with our amazing Tacos Asados and Fiesta Mexicana menus. Here are some snapshots from the past two weeks:
